Natural product: Rosin esters

In the newsletter edition “Allrounder: Gum Rosin” we previously told you about our renewable raw material gum rosin (also known as rosin). Now, we would like to outline the next processing stage on the basis of gum rosin: rosin ester. Curious? Read on to find out more.

What’s so special about rosin esters?

With our rosin esters, we aim to make a contribution to a more sustainable world. The constantly growing demand for environmentally friendly and renewable raw materials with a lower carbon footprint will make the use of purely synthetic materials ever more difficult. Rosin esters therefore represent an ideal foundation.

When we talk about rosin esters, we are referring to hard and soft rosins that are formed by the esterification of gum rosin or rosin with monohydric and polyhydric alcohols.

Diverse areas of application

Let’s work together to get your area of application fit for the future. Our rosin esters are used particularly as tackifiers in hot-melt systems because they exhibit optimum adhesion and large-area compatibility with polymers. In 2K-PUR systems, rosin esters can be used to improve adhesion, and on top of this they also go into adhesives, flooring adhesives, glues, sealants, paints, printing inks, tires, road-marking paints, depilatory waxes for cosmetics, gum base for chewing gum, plastic granulates, polishes and many other formulations.

Often, it is the little changes that make a big difference. Thanks to many years of experience and optimal global networking with producers, we have the possibility of optimizing existing rosin esters according to your individual requirements. Ultimately, this will provide you with the ideal and most sustainable solution for your product. We are very much looking forward to using our existing rosins in tackling the challenges of your application.

We hope we have been able to arouse your interest in our rosin esters. Feel free to talk to us and let’s work together to find an optimal and sustainable solution for your application.
